On behalf of the Organizing Committee of 2016 APASL STC on HCV Kaohsiung, we would like to welcome you to the 5th APASL Single Topic Conference on Hepatitis C, from June 10–12, 2016, at Kaohsiung Exhibition Center, Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
2016 APASL STC on HCV Kaohsiung in Taiwan, is organized by The Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL) and The Taiwan Association for the Study of the Liver (TASL). These Societies have common interests in basic research and clinical practice in the field of liver diseases. Building on the success of the APASL Annual Meeting 2012, which had over 3,700 participants, we have prepared an even more diverse and comprehensive program for our delegates.
Experts from the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, and North American will share cutting-edge knowledge about research and clinical practice in hepatology. Friends and colleagues from far and wide will gain exciting and unique insights on liver diseases from a global perspective. We can also learn from the Asian-Pacific experience in the field of viral hepatitis, in particular hepatitis C virus (HCV) research.
During this prestigious congress, your contribution will be extremely meaningful and fruitful. The participants will be impressed by your achievements and hospitality as they savor every moment of the event and enjoy the wonders Kaohsiung offers. This Conference will also provide unsurpassed opportunities to network with decision makers, top researchers and practitioners. And we are especially pleased to have organized a Conference with many Taiwanese experts. We do hope that everyone will enjoy the energetic atmosphere in this sunny harbor city of Taiwan!
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Greetings from the Taiwan Association for the Study of the Liver (TASL)!
On behalf of TASL, I am delighted to be hosting the 5th APASL Single Topic Conference on Hepatitis C Virus, in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
The theme of this APASL Conference is ‘Hepatitis C: Before and Beyond Cure’. As you know HCV infection is an important healthcare issue globally, and especially in the Asia-Pacific region. Knowing how best to prevent and treat HCV infection is very important to hepatologists, but also raises challenges. HCV therapy has evolved very fast over the past 5 years. Direct antiviral agents were launched in 2011, followed by interferon-free regimens in 2013 and all-oral therapy in 2014 – all have revolutionized the HCV treatment landscape.
Through interactive presentations and discussions, we can gain a deeper understanding of HCV infection that will hasten breakthroughs in prevention and treatment. We look forward to learning from your excellent research as well as sharing our own experiences and findings. We are honoured to be joined by distinguished colleagues from across the region and will strive to ensure that this Conference emulates the success of previous ones.
Kaohsiung City is located in southern Taiwan. Blessed with charming scenery and a picturesque harbor, this beautiful city guarantees a friendly welcome and delicious cuisine.
I look forward joining you at the 2016 APASL STC on HCV Kaohsiung, for what will surely be a memorable and inspiring meeting.
See you in Kaohsiung!
